Installing front panel 

Information 

• Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. 
• Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. 

1. Apply adhesive evenly in the bonding area on the front panel and body.

   WM, 5X00IN21 WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE PAH.071.781.00 ..

   > Application depth 0.5 mm

2. Also apply a bead of adhesive on the joint areas. > Application depth 5 mm 
3. Position the front panel using the straightening system.
4. Rivet in front panel.
   1. 4.1  Rivet in areas shown using > BLIND RIVET 999.190.228.01  .

5. Make ground connections.
   1. 5.1  Drill bores for ground connections. > Diameter 8.2 mm  > Screw-on points for ground connection

   2. 5.2  Make ground connection using > COUNTERSUNK SCREW 999.073.549.01  > HEXAGON NUT 900.377.003.01  .

      WM, 5X00IN25 MAKING GROUND CONNECTIONS .

      > Tightening torque 15 Nm (11 lb.ft)  > Ground connections

   3. 5.3  Carefully seal screw heads and nuts.
6. Install uppercross member together with wing joining plate.

   1. 6.1  Fit and secure upper cross member together with wing joining plate > Fitting wing joining plate with cross member.

   2. 6.2  Drill holes for rivets on the wing joining plate through the existing holes in the cross member.
   3. 6.3  Remove wing joining plate and cross member.
   4. 6.4  Prepare wing joining plate for installation.

   5. 6.5  Apply adhesive to the cross member > Applying adhesive to cross member.

   6. 6.6  Insert and secure wing joining plate and cross member.
   7. 6.7  Rivet in areas shown using > BLIND RIVET 999.190.229.01  .

7. Install wing joining plate.
