Installing Rear Window

CAUTION: Danger of material damage if specified curing time of adhesive is not observed! In order to ensure that the bonded joint is sufficiently strong, the following conditions must be adhered to:
  • The vehicle must not be used until the curing time has elapsed.
  • Curing time: 2 hours
  • Temperature: at least 10 °C
  • Fixing time: approx. 1 hour

  1. Prepare 2-component adhesive for processing. →  6X00IN WORKING WITH PORSCHE 2-COMPONENT WINDOW ADHESIVE 

    Information 

    • When applying the adhesive, it is essential to ensure that the adhesive bead overlaps by approx. 30 mm at the beginning and at the end  .
  2. Apply adhesive to the rear window.

    1. 2.1. Using a bonding gun, apply 2-component adhesive to the rear window along the preliminary coat or on the primer in the form of a triangular bead measuring -X = approx. 15 mm-  .

      Information 

      • Two persons are needed to insert, position and secure the rear window  .
  3. Insert rear window into the body.
    1. 3.1. Apply suction cups to the rear window and insert the rear window into the window aperture. Position the rear window on the lower edge -arrows A-  and fit it -arrow B-  .

  4. Adjust the rear window gaps.
    1. 4.1. Adjust the size of the gaps -X-  and -Y -  by moving the rear window. → Gap dimension X: 3 mm+/-0.5 mm 
    2. 4.2. → Gap dimension Y: 1 mm+/-0.5 mm

  5. Remove suction cups.
    1. 5.1. Secure upper edge of the rear window with adhesive tape -1-  to prevent it from slipping.

  6. Clean visible areas.
    1. 6.1. Adhesive which has oozed out must be removed immediately and the affected visible areas must be cleaned using cleaning agent.

  7. Connect plug connection for rear window heating at the left and right.
