Installing Tailpipe Cover: Overview

Grease sliding bases and silencer supports lightly with Optimoly high-temperature grease (Part No. 000.043.004.00).
Slide tailpipe cover with clamp onto the tailpipe.

Observe specified dimensions for installation position with respect to rear apron.

Information

If the engine mountings (hydraulic mounts) are to be replaced, the gap dimension to be set with respect to the upper rear apron is reduced by 1.5 mm because of the settling behavior of the mountings
Align tailpipe cover with respect to rear apron.

  1. Za - Gap with respect to top of rear apron: Outer cover → Nominal value: 23 mm+/-2 mm
  2. Zi - Gap with respect to top of rear apron: Inner cover → Nominal value: 24 mm+/-2 mm
  3. Y - Gap with respect to inside of rear apron: → Nominal value: 30 mm+/-2 mm
  4. X - Projection with respect to rear apron inner lining: → Nominal value: 9 mm+/-2 mm

Secure ball clamp for tailpipe cover.
Tailpipe cover must be fitted so that it does not hit against the free-standing exhaust pipe!

→ Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)

Grease sliding bases and silencer supports lightly with Optimoly high-temperature grease (Part No. 000.043.004.00).
Install tailpipe cover.
1. 2.1. Fit tailpipe cover and fastening nut -1- .
2. 2.2. Adjust sliding bases and align tailpipe cover with respect to the rear apron.
3. 2.3. Tighten fastening nuts -1- .
