Installing Front Brake Disc: Notes
- Longer braking distance
- More wear on brake pads
→ Only use the type-specific brake pads listed in the Porsche Parts Catalogue.
→ Replace the brake pads when the brake pad wear indicator light comes on, but no later than when there is a residual pad thickness of 2 mm on each axle.
→ Replace the brake discs on each axle as soon as the brake pad wear limit is reached.
- Risk of damage to (ceramic) brake discs
→ Use two assembly pins when removing and fitting the wheel.
→ Carefully guide the wheel towards the wheel hub, thereby preventing any heavy impact on the (ceramic) brake disc.
Do not confuse right and left brake discs during assembly!
Distinguishing characteristic: Part No.! The flat surface of the brake discs is marked with R = right or L = left.
- Check that all parts are in perfect condition and replace them if necessary.
- When replacing brake discs -2-
on vehicles with centre-lock wheel, five new wheel attachments -1-
must be fitted.
The wheel attachments -1- (5 x), comprising an attachment pin -1.1- , sleeve -1.2- and self-locking screw -1.3- , are only available as a set for one brake disc (Part No. 997.341.901.00).
- 2.1. When fitting the wheel attachments -1-, always check the following:
All contact surfaces must be clean and free of grease.
Tightening torque for self-locking screws -1.3- = 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.).
- 2.1. When fitting the wheel attachments -1-, always check the following:
- Clean the levelling and centering surfaces on the brake disc and wheel hub. Then apply a very thin coat of Optimoly TA to the centering surface on the wheel hub.
- Fit the brake disc. Observe correct tightening torque → 4600TW TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR BRAKE MECHANICS .
- Fit the brake calliper. Replace the brake calliper fastening screws following removal. Observe correct tightening torque → 4600TW TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR BRAKE MECHANICS .
- Fit retainer for connector for wear indicator on wheel carrier.
- Fit the speed sensor (ABS sensor).
- Position disc brake pads by operating the brake several times.
- Check brake fluid level and correct it if necessary. The brake fluid level must be between the MAX-MIN marking. → 470801 CHECKING BRAKE FLUID LEVEL
