Installing Rear Connecting Link (Suspension/Stabilizer)
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2012 Porsche Cayman, 2012 Porsche Boxster, 2011 Porsche Cayman, 2011 Porsche Boxster, and 2010 Porsche Cayman. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Up to around mid-April 2005 (see Technical Information for exact date of introduction, if necessary), the lock nuts on the threaded connection between the anti-roll bar and suspension/stabilizer on the front and rear axle can become loose due to reduced preload.
- As of the specified date, suspension/stabilizers with a pin that is 10 mm longer and a correspondingly lengthened hexagon nut must be fitted on the front and rear axle.
- Suspension/stabilizers with a longer fastening pin (longer thread) can be retrofitted.
- In the event of a complaint (problem with noises caused by the anti-roll bar), replace all four suspension/stabilizers with the modified version.
- When carrying out assembly work close to the anti-roll bar or on the wheel suspension, install the modified version on the right and left-hand side.
- Fit connecting link (suspension/stabilizer).
Information
- Use the new fastening nuts, which are 10 mm longer (Part No. 999.084.123.09), to secure the modified connecting links.
- Use the old fastening nuts (Part No. 999.084.643.09) to secure the old connecting links.
- The old connecting link (short threaded pin) must not be used together with the new lock nut because the threaded pin is not long enough for the lock nut. If this incorrect combination is used, the safety effect could not be assured or would only be provided conditionally.
- Use new fastening nuts. Fit the correct lock nut -Down arrow- on the connection between the suspension/stabilizer and anti-roll bar, depending on the version used (long or short pin).
- Observe prescribed tightening torques. Tighten the lower lock nut (M10) in three stages
- Fit wheel → INSTALLING WHEEL .
