Additional Assembly Instructions For Installing Retainer Plate For Headlight-Washer Spray Nozzle
Information
Surface condition
- The bonding surfaces must be free from oil, dirt, moisture, and paint and oxide layers .
- If the bonding surface is exposed for more than 2 hours, or if it is dirty, it must be cleaned using isopropyl .
- Use clean, lint-free disposable cloths to clean the surfaces .
Information
Temperature
- Bond the retainer plate at an ambient temperature of between 20 and 25 °C .
- The material temperature must be maintained so that there are no dew-point differences (condensation) .
Information
Applying adhesive
- Adhesive must be applied using the EPX application system developed by 3M .
- The original mixing nozzles must be used .
- If the mixing nozzle is left on the cartridge for longer than the processing time of 2-3 minutes, it must be replaced with a new nozzle .
- Adhesive must be applied in such a way that the bead of adhesive is pressed in by approx. 50 % at the joint. This is necessary in order to achieve adequate contact/coating .
- The retainer plate must be affixed within the processing time of 2-3 minutes .
Information
Final Bonding Strength
- An initial handling strength is achieved after approx. 3 hours. The affixed retainer plates must not be moved during this time .
- The final bonding strength is achieved after approx. 24 hours at room temperature. No pressure should be applied to the bonded area during this time .
- The final bonding strength is achieved after only about 30 minutes when stored at approx. 70 °C. No pressure should be applied to the bonded area during this time .
