Removing Steering Wheel

  1. Turn wheels to straight-ahead position.

    Information 

    • Always release and disconnect the plug connections for the steering wheel heating and airbag cables before removing the steering wheel. 
  2. If the vehicle has a heated steering wheel: release and pull off plug connection for steering wheel heater -1-  .

  3. Release and pull off plug connection for airbag wire harness -2-  .

    Information 

    Immediately after unscrewing the fastening screw and before  removing the steering wheel, it is essential to mark the position of the steering wheel and steering column -2-  .

    Marking

    When reinstalling, this ensures that the steering wheel as well as the airbag spring are fitted back in the same position on the steering column.

  4. Unscrew fastening screw -1-  with > Nr.32 - multiple-tooth socket-wrench insert.

  5. Mark position of steering wheel.
  6. Remove steering wheel.
