Installing Oil Pan

Information 

The tightening specifications for the basic engine are stored centrally.

Tightening torques and assembly instructions for other assemblies (e.g. chassis, electrics, transmission or body) or for peripheral engine equipment can be found in the corresponding documents.

Information 

If the oil pan seal has to be replaced or a newer type of oil pan without a moulded seal is installed, please note the following:

Apply sealant to oil pan

• If an oil pan is old, remove the defective moulded seal without leaving -1- any traces. 
• Pre-treat the groove in the oil pan using the cleaning agent specified in the Spare Parts Catalogue and leave it to dry. 
• Apply the sealant specified in the Spare Parts Catalogue -1- into the groove. 
• The order must always start at the position shown -Arrow- and be pulled through without interruption until reaching the end position -Arrow-  .
  IMPORTANT: Ensure there is sufficient overlap.
• The sealant thickness must be 3 to max. 3.5 mm. 

1. Clean and de-grease sealing surfaces on the oil pan and oil guide housing.
   1. 1.1 Check oil pan seal and replace if damaged.
2. Position oil pan and screw in screws by hand. Align and tighten oil pan.
