Removing Drive Plate For Torque Converter

  1. Mark installation position of the drive plate with respect to the crankshaft using a felt-tip pen.

    Information 

    The threaded bore in the crankcase is a blind hole.

    Drive plate toothed segment 

    • Secure the toothed segment -1-  on the crankcase using a screw -2-  (M12 x 50).
    • This screw ensures that the toothed segment is secured correctly and prevents damage to the thread. 
  2. Fit > 9538/1 - toothed segment  (> Toothed segment on oil guide housing).

  3. Block drive plate.
    1. To do this, position > 9538/1 - toothed segment  on the bottom threaded bore so that at least one tooth engages. > Toothed segment

  4. Remove drive plate. Loosen screws in diagonally opposite sequence.
    1. Replace screws.
  5. Remove drive plate.
  6. If the drive plate is tight, loosen it using an internal puller and > VW771 - multi-purpose tool  .
    1. Insert internal puller into the center of the drive plate and tighten it. > Internal puller

  7. Screw on striking tool and pull off the drive plate. > Striker
