Removing Cylinder Head Cover

NOTE: Dirt and contamination
  • Risk of damage to units or components

→ Protect components from dirt and contamination.

→ Clean or replace dirty components.

  1. Unscrew 20 countersunk screws (internal Torx (T30), M6 x 25) on each cylinder bank and remove cover.
    1. 1.1. Cylinder head cover on bank 1-3:

  2. Remove molded seal and clean it carefully using a clean, lint-free cloth.
    1. 2.1. Re-use the seal if there are no visible and perceptible signs of damage (cracks, fractures).
  3. Clean sealing faces on the cylinder head and cover. To do this, soak a clean, lint-free cloth in acetone or solvent naphtha and wipe off the surfaces.
    1. 3.1. Allow components to dry off sufficiently.
