Installing Flywheel

NOTE:
Removing and installing flywheel
- Leaks
- Risk of damage to the flywheel and adjacent components
→ Be very careful during removal and installation.
→ Get another person to help because of the weight.
WARNING:
Caustic fluids
- Danger of chemical burns
→ Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Ensure that there is good ventilation.
→ If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.
- Remove protective wax on new parts with acetone or solvent naphtha.
Information
Before re-installing the flywheel, clean the friction surface of the flywheel using a clean, lint-free cloth soaked in acetone or solvent naphtha).
- Position the dual-mass flywheel on the crankshaft dowel pin and press it onto the crankshaft flange.
- 2.1. Fit ten new M10 x 29 (internal serration) fastening screws and tighten them evenly and crosswise.
- Toothed segment 9538/1
must be used for countering at the starter ring gear.
- 3.1. Place toothed segment -1- on the cast strut. Turn the flywheel slightly to the right to do this.
- Tighten fastening screws evenly and crosswise to the prescribed tightening torque.
→ Initial tightening: 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)
→ Final tightening - torque angle: 120°
- Remove the toothed segment.
