Removing Engine
- Master Gear Unit Elevating Platform WE 1206
must be ready for removing the engine.
→ 1001IN TOOLS FOR REMOVING UNITS AND WORKING ON THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY SUPPORT .
- 1.1. Observe installation position.
- Master Gear Unit Elevating Platform WE 1206
- Support 9769/1 for Porsche double-clutch transmission (PDK)
- Support 9769/2 for manual transmission
- Retainer Plate 9769 for engine
- 1.1. Observe installation position.
- Place elevating platform under engine/transmission unit.
- 2.1. The tilt angle of the elevating platform plate can be changed to suit the installation position of the engine/transmission unit.
- 2.2. Align the support dome of the retainer plate to the mounting points -arrows-
- 2.3. Place a suitable support under the transmission.
- Gently support the engine/transmission unit with the elevating platform.
- For safety reasons, the engine must also be secured on the elevating platform by fastening a tension strap (Strapping Belt 9454 -Pos. 1- ) on the exhaust manifold -arrows- .
- Release transmission mount at right and left.

- Disconnect engine carrier.
- 6.1. Screw off three M10 collar nuts -2-

NOTE: Engine/transmission unit lowered or inserted incorrectly
- Risk of damage to engine/transmission unit
- Cables and coolant hoses can be stretched and torn
→ Gradually lower or raise the engine using a jack.
→ Always check that all necessary cables were disconnected when lowering the engine/transmission unit.
→ Make sure that no cables or hoses are damaged when fitting the engine/transmission unit.
→ Get one or two more persons to help.
- 6.1. Screw off three M10 collar nuts -2-
.
- Gently lower the engine/transmission unit with the elevating platform.
- Pull off coolant hose from reservoir to engine.
- 8.1. Clamp off coolant hose using a hose clamp.
- 8.2. Open spring clamp and pull off the coolant hose.
- Vehicles With Manual Transmission: Remove clutch slave cylinder:
- Lower engine/transmission unit.
Ensure the bypass valve does not hit the tab -1- on the bulkhead while lowering .
Pay particular attention to narrow points between the exhaust manifold flange/transmission and chassis parts .
Avoid contact by carefully moving the elevating platform forwards and backwards .
- 10.1. At least one additional person is required during the lowering process in order to prevent damage and collisions.
- 10.2. Turn the holder -3- for the fuel lines -2- through 90°.
