Removing Front Anti-Roll Bar
- Loosen connecting links on the anti-roll bar.
- 1.1. Unscrew fastening nut (M10 x 1.5 or M12 x 1.5) -1-
. To unscrew the fastening nut, counter with screwdriver 9546
(Torx screwdriver) at the ball-joint pin.
Replace fastening nut
- 1.2. Remove ball-joint pin from the bore in the anti-roll bar.
- 1.1. Unscrew fastening nut (M10 x 1.5 or M12 x 1.5) -1-
. To unscrew the fastening nut, counter with screwdriver 9546
(Torx screwdriver) at the ball-joint pin.
- Loosen threaded connections for anti-roll bar clamp on the front-axle cross member -1- at both sides.

Do not carry out the following steps:
- 5. Loosen lower front-axle wishbone at the outside.
- 7. Loosen mounting for height sensor and coolant pipe.
- 10. Release and unplug battery connector and vehicle signal connector from the steering gear motor.
- 11. Remove front-axle carrier.
WARNING: Warning about components falling down when the vehicle is raised- Risk of personal injury, particularly head injuries, if the front-axle cross member or steering gear falls down.
→ Never detach the front-axle cross member completely and also support it with a hydraulic lift.
→ Secure the loose steering gear to prevent it from falling down and always get another mechanic to help you to remove it.
CAUTION: Hot components- Risk of burns
→ Let hot components cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
- Lower the front-axle cross member as far as required until you have enough room to remove the anti-roll bar.
- Remove anti-roll bar.
