Filling Coolant

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2019 Porsche 911, 2018 Porsche 911, 2017 Porsche 911, 2016 Porsche 911, and 2015 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Information

The filling device 9696 is used for vacuum-filling.

Information

  1. Place a canister with a sufficient amount of coolant and with an antifreeze content of -35 °C behind the vehicle at the same height as the reservoir.
  2. Push the filler hose of the vacuum gauge onto the canister connection. Drain the return hose from the Venturi nozzle into a second empty container.

    Information

    • A hissing sound after connecting the compressed air supply is normal.
  3. Screw cap adapter for coolant reservoir (K65) -1-  onto the reservoir and attach the flexible extension (Fz 100) -2-  to the cap.
    1. 3.1. Close both shut-off valves (90° with respect to flow direction). Connect vacuum gauge -3-  to the flexible extension.
    2. 3.2. Connect pressure hose -4-  to the Venturi nozzle -5-  .
    3. 3.3. Set the pressure level on the workshop pressure system to 8 bar.

  4. Open both shut-off valves on the vacuum gauge until the transparent filler hose is completely filled with coolant.

    Information

    • If no vacuum is built up, there is a leak in the cooling system or the connection pressure is too low.
    • Deformation of the rubber hoses in the cooling system is normal.
    • When the pressure gauge pointer is in the green area of the display scale, a sufficient vacuum has been built up.
    • If both shut-off valves are closed and the compressed air supply is disconnected, the vacuum must not drop.
    • If the vacuum drops within approx. 30 seconds, there is a leak in the cooling system.
  5. Close the shut-off valve -arrow-  on the filler hose connection to allow a vacuum to build up.

    1. 5.1. A sufficient vacuum has built up in the cooling system when the pointer is in the green area.

    2. 5.2. Close the right shut-off valve and disconnect the compressed air supply.
  6. To fill the system, open the left shut-off valve (right valve remains closed -arrow-  ).

  7. The filling process is complete when the pointer on the pressure gauge stops at zero. Then open the right shut-off valve.
  8. Remove the filling device.
  9. Check engine coolant level and correct it if necessary.
