Always replace lock nuts and screws using the torque angle tightening procedure.
Observe specified tightening torques. → 4X00IN TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR REAR AXLE .
- Fit diagonal brace (left or right). Multiple-tooth screw in the middle -inset- .
- On vehicles with PDCC, install anti-roll bar. → Installing Rear Anti-Roll Bar
.
Anti-roll bar clamps on rear-axle cross member Tightening torque 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)
- Connecting link (suspension/stabilizer) to anti-roll bar (PDCC) Initial tightening 50 Nm (37 ftlb.) Final tightening +50°
On vehicles without PDCC, fit connecting link (suspension/stabilizer) on the anti-roll bar. Initial tightening 40 Nm (30 ftlb.) Final tightening +30°
- Fit cover for rear underbody.
- Tighten the pre-fitted axle nut (securing drive shaft to wheel bearing housing). Operate the brake while doing this (two mechanics required).
Tightening torque 460 Nm
- On vehicles with central bolts, check the lockable wheel bolt (locking mechanism) and wheel bolt for damage. Then, insert the lockable wheel bolt -1- into the wheel hub -2-.
- Fit the relevant rear wheel.
