Installing Rear Brake Pads - PCCB Brakes: Notes

- Before installing the brake pads, check the amount of wear on the brake discs. For details of minimum brake disc thickness, see → 4600TW TECHNICAL DATA/BRAKE WEAR LIMIT .
- Push the brake pistons back into their original position using the piston reset tool Nr.144 .
- Fit new expanding spring on the brake calliper.
Information
- The expanding spring and brake calliper fastening screws must be replaced whenever the brake pads are changed.
- With the introduction of modified brake pads (Pagid P40-3), the brake-piston damping plates (claw plates in the brake pistons) are no longer used.
- The modified brake pads have a damping plate (on the brake-pad mounting plate) -1- . This damping plate -1- is covered with protective paper. Remove the protective paper completely before installing the brake pads.
- Some damping plates -1- (on certain types of brake pad) still have a sliding plate -2- as well. These can be identified by the sliding plate mounting -arrows- . This sliding plate -2- is also covered with protective paper. Remove the protective paper completely before installing the brake pads.
- Fit disc brake pads.
- 4.1. Fit the modified brake pads (Pagid P40-3) without claw plates!
- 4.2. Pull protective paper completely off the back of the brake pad and fit the brake pad (remove any dust or grease!).
- Fit brake calliper on the wheel carrier. Use new fastening screws -1-
. Tightening torque: 85 Nm (63 ftlb.).
After fitting the brake calliper, fit the brake pads on the brake discs. Actuate the brake pedal several times for this purpose.
Then insert the warning contact wire and warning contacts -arrows- .
- Check the brake fluid level and correct it if necessary. The brake fluid level must be between the MIN and MAX markings.
