Installing Rear Brake Disc

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2012 Porsche Cayman, 2012 Porsche Boxster, 2011 Porsche Cayman, 2011 Porsche Boxster, and 2010 Porsche Cayman. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check that all parts are in perfect condition and replace them if necessary.
  2. Clean the levelling and centering surfaces on the brake disc and wheel hub.

    Then apply a very thin coat of Optimoly TA to the centering surface on the wheel hub.

    Information 

    The grey cast-iron brake discs at the rear right and rear left are identical. They are available with different external diameters and in different thicknesses (depending on the vehicle variant).

    Rear PCCB brake discs are not identical. Observe marking for "right" and "left" side during assembly! 

  3. Fit brake disc and brake calliper using new fastening screws.

    Tighten the two countersunk-head screws -1-  to 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.).

    Tighten the brake calliper fastening screw to 85 Nm (63 ftlb.).

  4. Fit brake hose bracket at the wheel carrier. Observe correct tightening torque → WM 4600TW TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR BRAKE MECHANISM  .

    Plug in connector for brake-pad wear indicator at the combination plug connection and secure in place with a safety clip.

    Ensure that the brake hose and brake line are in perfect position!

  5. Adjust parking-brake shoes (turn adjustment device of parking-brake shoes to suit) → 468316 ADJUSTING PARKING-BRAKE SHOES .

  6. Position disc brake pads onto brake disc by actuating the brake several times.
  7. Check brake fluid level and correct if necessary. The brake fluid level must be between the MAX-MIN marking. → Check Brake Fluid Level .

  8. Fit wheel → Installing Wheel .
