Replacing Tires

Tires should not be more than 6 years old!

Tires must not be repaired and the use of inner tubes in tubeless tires is not permitted.

When replacing a tire on an axle, make sure that the tread depth of the new tire does not differ from that of the other tire by more than 30 %.

Ideally: Replace both tires on an axle so that vehicle handling is not unnecessarily affected by different tread depths.

If only one tire is replaced on an axle, check vehicle handling during the final test drive. Also replace the second tire if necessary, following consultation with the customer. Processing (recommendation): If the customer does not agree to having both tires replaced, prepare a memo about this and get the customer to sign it.

If new tires are mounted or the tires of one axle are replaced, tires of the same make and with the same specification code must always be used on each of the two axles.

If tires are replaced on one axle only, the different tread depth compared to the other axle can cause a noticeable change in the usual vehicle handling. This is especially the case if new tires are mounted on the rear axle. This effect decreases with increasing tire mileage.

The chart of tires and wheels for summer and winter can be found in the Manufacturer's Certificate >>Approved wheels and tires<< in the >>Manufacturer's Certificates<< information medium, Group 4. When replacing summer tires, pay close attention to the tire specification number. The specification codes N1, N2, N3 and N0 distinguish the summer tires specially approved by Porsche from other versions of the same tire type and size.

Customers should be informed that the full performance of new or newly mounted tires is achieved only after driving the vehicle for a distance of 100 to 200 km (60 to 120 miles). Extreme driving maneuvers (acceleration, braking) should be avoided.
