Installing Heating/Fresh-Air Unit
Information
Make sure that coolant does not soil the passenger compartment.
Protect seats and carpet with protective covers.
Information
- Make sure not to damage the insulation of the main wiring harness.
Information
Do not remove the stoppers for the air-conditioning lines until just before installing the expansion valve.
Check foam parts for signs of damage. If in doubt, replace them.
- Fit firewall sound absorber on the heating/fresh-air unit.
- Affix a new seal on the air intake.
- Guide the heating/fresh-air unit -3- into the passenger compartment via the passenger's side and use the two guides -2- to position it on the firewall -1- . A second worker is required.
- Support the heating/fresh-air unit at the center tunnel using a suitable wooden block so that the heating/fresh-air unit does not fall into the passenger compartment after you have positioned it.
- Fit the two firewall sleeves -2- on the firewall.
- Fit coolant hoses -1- on the heat exchanger using assembly pliers Nr.72 Pos.2 .
- Clip in the vacuum line at the brake booster.
- Fit the refrigerant lines at the expansion valve → INSTALLING EXPANSION VALVE .
- Fit condensed water pipe -1- to the heating/fresh-air unit using a plastic clamp -2- .
