Removing Transmission Oil Cooler

CAUTION:
Hot components
- Risk of burns
→ Let hot components cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
- Clamp off coolant hoses.
- 1.1. Clamp off coolant hose -1- using hose clamping pliers Nr.192 -3- .
- 1.2. Clamp off coolant hose -2- using hose clamping pliers Nr.192 -4- .
- Place a container under the vehicle to collect coolant.
- Pull off coolant hoses.
- 3.1. Open the spring band clamp -3-
on the coolant hose -1-
.
Pull off the coolant hose.
- 3.2. Open the spring band clamp -4-
on the coolant hose -2-
.
Pull off the coolant hose.
WARNING: Hot fluid- Danger of scalding
→ Avoid contact with hot fluid.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
- 3.1. Open the spring band clamp -3-
on the coolant hose -1-
.
- Place a suitable container under the vehicle to collect the oil/coolant mixture.
Information
The upper threaded joints for the transmission oil cooler cannot be loosened because they are obstructed by the B+ cable socket. To access the threaded joints, part of the cable duct for the B+ line must be detached.
- Detach part of the cable duct for the B+ line.
- 5.1. Only unscrew the two screws at the right -2- on the cable duct -1- .
- 5.2. Press the cable socket up in order to access the upper screws for the transmission oil cooler.
- Remove transmission oil cooler.

- 6.1. Unscrew screws (M6 x 55) -1- on the transmission oil cooler.
- 6.2. Unscrew screws (M6 x 20) -2- on the transmission oil cooler.
- 6.3. Remove transmission oil cooler.
- 6.4. Collect emerging coolant and transmission oil.
- Replace insert seal -1- for the transmission oil cooler.
- 7.1. Carefully clean the sealing surface.
