Installing Shift And Selector Cables

Information 

During installation of the shift and selector cables, the transmission must be engaged in neutral.

Information 

  1. Slide the shift and selector cables -2-  through the body guide from below.

    Check that the cables are routed correctly and without tension so that no chafing occurs! 

    1. 1.1. Apply sliding compound (e.g. Contifix tire mounting paste) on the rubber sleeve -1-  close to the opening in the body.
    2. 1.2. Insert and engage the rubber sleeve -1-  in the body guide.

  2. Secure shift and selector cables -3-  on the transmission.
    1. 2.1. Engage shift and selector cables -3-  on the support -2-  .
    2. 2.2. Press ball joints -1-  onto the exterior shift mechanism.
    3. 2.3. Check that the support and ball joints are seated securely.

  3. Secure shift and selector cables -2-  on the center tunnel.

  4. Start the engine and briefly check that all shift positions function correctly.

    Make sure there is enough space in front of and behind the vehicle!
