Checking the radial and lateral runout

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2005 Porsche 911, 2004 Porsche 911, 2003 Porsche 911, 2002 Porsche 911, and 2001 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The measuring points for radial and lateral runout on the inside of the wheel are given on the following drawing (dimension "a").

Maximum permissible radial runout and lateral runout of the light alloy wheels = 0.7 mm.

Maximum permissible radial runout and lateral runout of the wheel with tyre = 1.25 mm. Values less than 1.0 mm - preferably around 0.5 mm - are desirable. See also GENERAL TYRE MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS  .

Please note: Straightening and welding work on light alloy wheels is not permissible.
