Removing and installing the frame for the roll-over protection system - up to model year 2001: Notes

NOTE:
  • The frame for the roll-over protection system up until 2001 differs from the frame for the roll-over protection system as of 2002 by their different component arrangement of DME + Tiptronic control unit, relay carrier, convertible top Z drive, and Z-supports behind the frame -3-. See Fig 2 .
  • The frame for roll-over protection systems up until 2001 can only be installed in vehicles with flexible Cabriolet rear window.
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION PROCEDURE OF ROLL OVER PROTECTION SYSTEM FRAME (UP TO MY 2001)

1 Hexagon-head bolt 4 Unscrew. Tighten. See TIGHTENING TORQUES  .
2 Collar nut 4 Unscrew. Tighten. See TIGHTENING TORQUES  .
3 Frame 1 Undo hexagon-head bolts -1-2-3-  . See Fig 2 . Position frame in the vehicle. -Dimension X: 491 +/- 1 mm-1-2-  . See Fig 2 .
4 Collar nut 2    
5 Relay carriers 1    
6 Wiring harness 1    
7 Oval-head screw 10    
8 Convertible-top control module 1 Refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONVERTIBLE-TOP CONTROL UNIT . Refer to REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONVERTIBLE-TOP CONTROL UNIT .
9 Hexagon-head bolt 4   See TIGHTENING TORQUES  .
