Sliding roof emergency operation mechanism

NOTE:

If the emergency operation on the glass sliding roof is implemented, make sure that the glass sliding roof is closed completely. If the glass sliding roof is in an open status, e.g. shortly before being closed, a malfunction may occur on the Targa roof.
If an emergency release has been carried out on the rear lid (e.g. to make the emergency operation easier), the glass sliding roof must be closed completely. With the Porsche System Tester, select the following chapters: Vehicle type - 996; Targa roof, Drive links; Test step - Unlocking Targa flap. Select the test step; the microswitch for the closing aid is then reset. In unfavorable circumstances, it may be necessary to repeat this test step.

ROOF EMERGENCY OPERATION MECHANISM SLIDING PROCEDURE - TARGA

No.	Procedure	Instructions
1	Removing rear wall lining	Holdrear cover at the side underneath and carefully pull out of the clips in the -direction of arrow-
2	Opening rear lid, emergency operation	Actuate the emergency release/hook, e.g. with a screwdriver.
3	Using the Allen key	The Allen keys are located on the rear side of the rear wall lining.
3		Remove both Allen keys from their holders.
4	Closing the glass sliding roof	Press both Allen keys into the drive axles, keep them pressed and turn them clockwise until the glass sliding roof is completely closed.
