Coolant: Checking the level and antifreeze protection content

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2005 Porsche 911, 2004 Porsche 911, 2003 Porsche 911, 2002 Porsche 911, and 2001 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • The engine cooling system is factory-filled with a coolant which does not need to be changed. The coolant should not be mixed with other coolants.
  • Only Original Porsche anti-freeze should be used when changing or topping up the coolant.
  1. Check anti-freeze content. To do this, open the lid on the coolant expansion tank and check with a frost protection testing device. If it is lower than - 35°C, it should be corrected accordingly.

  2. Check the cooling system for leaks. To do this, apply a test pressure of approx. 1 bar using the cooling system test device and check hose connections for leakage.
