Tightening torques for steering

STEERING TIGHTENING TORQUES

Tie rod (ball joint) to steering arm M12 x 1.5/10 75 (56 ftlb.)
Universal joint (steering shaft) to steering gear(2) M8 23 (17 ftlb.)(2)
Tie rod to ball joint (lock nut) M14 x 1.5 50 (37 ftlb.)
Tie rod to steering rack M16 x 1.5 80 (59 ftlb.)
Steering wheel to steering shaft M16 x 1.5 45 (33 ftlb.)
Airbag module to steering wheel M6 10 (7.5 ftlb.)
Steering outer tube to pedal bearing block, top M10 x 1.5 46 (34 ftlb.)
Steering outer tube to pedal bearing block, bottom M14 20 (15 ftlb.)
Steering lock to steering outer tube M6 13 (10 ftlb.)
Transverse support to steering outer tube M8 23 (17 ftlb.)
Transverse support to support frame M8 23 (17 ftlb.)
Pressure and return pipes to steering gear M10 x 1.5 20 (15 ftlb.)
Plug-in couplings for steering hydraulic system a/f 15(3) 30 (22 ftlb.) 40 (30 ftlb.)
(1) Replace screws whenever removed.
(2) Replace fit bolt whenever it has been removed.
(3) a/f = width across flats or wrench size (a/f 15 pressure line/ a/f 19 return line).
