Installing transmission
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2005 Porsche 911, 2004 Porsche 911, 2003 Porsche 911, 2002 Porsche 911, and 2001 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Clean toothed wheel on the drive shaft and grease lightly, e.g. with Olista Longtime 3 EP.NOTE:
- When positioning the transmission, make sure that the dowel sleeve is in the correct position in the crankcase.
- Run transmission in so that the clutch slave cylinder can be assembled.
- Run transmission in from underneath and position on engine.
- Assemble clutch slave cylinder.
Tightening torque: 23 (17)
- Run transmission in completely, tighten fastening screws.

Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)
- Install transmission holder.
Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)
- Remove transmission jack.
- Position and secure switch cable. See Removing and installing shift and selector cables .
- Clip hydraulic line onto side transmission case cover.
- Attach electrical connection to the reversing light switch.
- Fit drive shaft on transmission side.
Tightening torque: 81 Nm (60 ftlbs.)
- Disassemble special tool retaining device 9624/1.
- Assemble stabilizer.
Tightening torque: 23 (17)
- Install cross member.
Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)
- Install underbody panels (middle and rear).
