The procedure described must be applied when a control unit has to be replaced and the tester function Control unit replacement cannot be used.
- PIWIS Tester II 9818 must be connected to the vehicle and ignition switched on.
- Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.

- When installing a new PCM/CDR in a vehicle, the PCM/CDR code specified in the PIWIS information system should be available. Normally, the code is stored in the instrument cluster and is read out from the PCM/CDR.
- You can get the codes from the PIWIS info system or from your importer by specifying the vehicle identification number.
- During coding, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for PIWIS Tester II 9818 . A battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A must be connected to the vehicle battery.
- The PIWIS Tester II 9818 instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy, these are the instructions that must be followed. Deviations can occur with later software versions.
- The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text may appear in PIWIS Tester II 9818 or additional information/steps may be displayed or required.
- Select PCM code , enter and press [F8] to start coding.
- Select Traffic broadcast loudspeaker boost and press [F8] to start coding.
- Select NLB (noise-dependent speaker boost) and press [F8] to start coding.

- Switch to MOST required installed components list . The same variant (e.g. CD autochanger) must also be displayed here - if this is not the case, select the variant and press [F8] to start coding.
- Select the Required & Actual configuration menu and confirm your selection by pressing [F12].
- Compare the Actual/Required listing. Press [F8] to start the Mapping . All installed audio components must now be listed with a plus under Actual/Required. If this is not the case, the variants in the MOST actual installed components list or MOST required installed components list must be coded manually.
- Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
- Press [F11] to exit the CD autochanger menu.
- Remove ignition key, close and lock vehicle, then unlock and switch on ignition
- Switch to the menu CD autochanger, Control unit replacement and perform the functions Read data and Write data .
- Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
- The car radio is now taught.
