Properties Of The Battery

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2013 Porsche 911, 2012 Porsche 911, 2011 Porsche 911, 2010 Porsche 911, and 2009 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The lightweight battery is a lithium-ion battery with LiFe04 (lithium-iron-phosphate) cells. The significantly higher specific performance of lithium-ion batteries compared with conventional lead batteries means that a lower capacity can be selected. While a lead battery is only designed to be discharged at a residual capacity of around 50%, this is possible at around 20% with a lithium-ion battery without reducing the vehicle's starting capability.
