Removing Camshaft-Housing Cover

CAUTION:
Ingress of dirt
- Danger of material damage due to blocked oil bores/oil ducts.
→ Absolute cleanliness is essential when working on the engine.
→ Lay removed engine parts on a clean base and make sure to cover them.
→ Use the cover for dust protection when fitting the engine NR.165 on the engine assembly support.
Information
Specifications for wrench sizes (a/f specifications) for screw heads are described as follows:
- Torx screws: (E..) for external Torx, (T..) for internal Torx.
- Hexagon-head bolts (internal and external hexagon): Wrench size (a/f)
- Remove small plastic covers (green) on the camshaft housing.
- 1.1. To do this, puncture the covers in the middle and lever out using a slotted screwdriver.
- Pull off the first two flat connectors -1- for the rod ignition modules (viewed from belt side).
- Remove camshaft-housing cover.
- 3.1. Unscrew 17 external Torx screws (E10, M6) from the outside in.
- 3.2. Side 1-3:
14 M6 x 35 screws -1-
, two M6 x 20 screws -2-
and one M6 x 75 screw -3-
.
Remove cable holder for pulse sender.
- 3.3. Side 4-6:
14 M6 x 35 screws -1-
, two M6 x 20 screws -2-
and one M6 x 75 screw -3-
.
Remove two oil tank holders.
CAUTION: Lever off camshaft housing cover.- Cast lugs can break off.
→ Carefully lift off the cover.
- Lift off camshaft-housing cover.
- 4.1. Carefully pry off at the cast lugs using a large screwdriver if necessary.
- Carefully remove residual sealing compound. Use a rotating rubber washer, for example, to do this.
