Preliminary Work - Cylinder Bank 1-3

CAUTION:
Ingress of dirt
- Danger of material damage due to blocked oil bores/oil ducts.
→ Absolute cleanliness is essential when working on the engine.
→ Lay removed engine parts on a clean base and make sure to cover them.
→ Use the cover for dust protection when fitting the engine NR.165 on the engine assembly support.
Information
Specifications for wrench sizes (a/f specifications) for screw heads are described as follows:
- Torx screws: (E..) for external Torx, (T..) for internal Torx.
- Hexagon-head bolts (internal and external hexagon): Wrench size (a/f)
- Drain engine oil.
- Remove engine.
- Remove transmission.
- Holder P201 and Engine Support 9667 must be secured to the engine/transmission flange using screw sleeves.
- Secure the engine to the assembly support with an engine lift. Get another person to help you do this.
- Remove front and rear silencers together (without exhaust manifold).

- 6.1. Screw off two hexagon nuts on each of the front silencer holders and loosen connecting clamp for the exhaust manifold.
- 6.2. Loosen restraining straps by unscrewing two M8 cheese head bolts.
- 6.3. Remove the entire exhaust system with the help of another person.
- Remove the engine carrier and rear silencer holder.
- Remove holder for front silencer at the sides.
- 8.1. Unscrew two external Torx screws (E12, M8 x 20) on the exhaust manifold side.
- 8.2. Unscrew one hexagon-head bolt (a/f 13, M8 x 16) on the top retaining brackets and remove the holder.
- Remove heat shield -1-

- 9.1. Unscrew two external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 12) -2- .
- Disconnect cable plugs for bar ignition modules and hall sender and remove bar ignition modules.
- 10.1. Pull off cable plugs for hall sender -1- and bar ignition modules -2- .
- 10.2. Unscrew internal Torx screws (T30, M6 x 16) -3- on the bar ignition modules.
- 10.3. Remove ignition coils.
- 10.4. Unscrew external Torx screw (E10, M6 x 12) -arrow- for the vacuum line -4- .
- 10.5. Unscrew external Torx screw (E10, M6 x 12) on the ground cable.
- Remove vacuum line -1-
for vacuum pump.
- 11.1. Unscrew one external Torx screw (E10, M6 x 12) -2- on the engine/transmission flange.
- 11.2. Pull off the vacuum hose. Unscrew two external Torx screws (E10), M6 x 16 -2- at the top and M6 x 10 at the bottom -3- , on the vacuum pump and pull off the line.
- Remove coolant regulator cover.
- 12.1. Open screw-type clamps -2- on the coolant hoses -1- . Lift hoses slightly and spray connection pieces with anti-rust agent.
- 12.2. Unscrew three cheese head bolts (hexagon socket a/f 5, M6 x 35) -2-
on the cover -1-

Tool recommendation: 3/8-inch socket-wrench insert (long), hexagon socket a/f 5 with ball joint
- 12.3. Lift off cover and pull it out of the coolant hoses.
Be careful with the coolant regulator.
- 12.4. Replace O-rings.
- Remove top cover on the camshaft housing -1-

- 13.1. Unscrew three external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 20) and pull off the cover.
- 13.2. Replace O-ring.
Information
- Only unscrew and screw in the specified screws for removing and installing the vacuum pump.
- The vacuum pump must not be disassembled.
- Remove vacuum pump.
- 14.1. Unscrew two external Torx screws (E10) M6 x 25 -1- and two M6 x 30 screws -2- .
- 14.2. Pull off oil return pipe for the oil suction pump -arrow- .
- 14.3. Pull off vacuum pump.
- 14.4. Replace all O-rings.
- Unclip cable plug -1-
for pulse sender from the holder -2-

- 15.1. Pull plug connection from the holder and unclip cable at the holder -arrow- .
