General information about GT3 grey cast-iron brakes in composite cast design from 2010 model onwards (generation II)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2013 Porsche 911, 2012 Porsche 911, 2011 Porsche 911, 2010 Porsche 911, and 2009 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

If vehicles have been driven aggressively, particularly after heavy braking from high speeds, partial coating of the brake disc can occur. The brake pad wear appears as dark spots across the entire friction surface. If the brakes then become hot during subsequent driving, e.g. due to repeated heavy deceleration from high speeds or driving on race circuits, the coating completely disappears again.

The brake discs do not need to be changed prematurely.

Following high temperature stress on the brake discs, a humming noise and a even perceptible amount of disc level run-out can occur; even after the brakes have cooled down. When the brake discs are next heated to operating temperature, this effect is reduced again. The brake discs do not need to be changed prematurely.
