911 GT3 (997): Standard brake (grey cast iron) - 2007 model

Front axle Rear axle
Characteristics: 
  • 6-piston fixed calliper with retaining pin
  • Brake-piston damping plates in the brake pistons (individual)

Complaints/symptom: None 
Characteristics: 
  • 4-piston fixed calliper with two bars
  • Brake-piston damping plates (connecting plate with vibration balancer) in the brake pistons.

Complaints/symptom: 
Brake noise (squealing) on rear axle in model year 2007 
Remedial action: 
  • Install brake pads and brake-piston damping plates at the defined position with respect to the brake calliper (as per Workshop Manual)  .
  • Check that the brake-piston damping plates are seated perfectly in the brake pistons and the brake pads are positioned correctly on the guide pins.
  • Make sure that the brake-piston damping plates are bonded securely to the brake-pad backing plates.
