- The cylinder liners in the 9x6 and 9x7 engine generations (Ist generation) can only be assessed visually and by touch.
- It is not possible to measure them based on prescribed wear dimensions since the cylinder liners are machined during manufacture using a so-called honing template (replacement cylinder head) while tensioned.
- This means that tension on the crankcase is relieved when disassembled (cylinder heads removed) and the previously "round shape" becomes an oval shape.
- Wear criteria include strong discoloration and obvious scoring/distortion or other damage.
