Installing Cardan Shaft

Information 

Always replace bellows.

  1. Install cardan shaft.
    1. 1.1. Assembly Sleeve 9255 -A-  must be pushed over the splines. Then, lightly lubricate sleeve with Vaseline and slide on bellows as far as it will go.

    2. 1.2. Grease bush -A-  with approx. 3 g of Olysta Longtime 3EP.

    3. 1.3. Grease splines of the cardan shaft with Olista Longtime 3 EP.
    4. 1.4. Slide cardan shaft into the splines of the central shaft.
    5. 1.5. Fit cardan shaft at the transmission side by screwing in and tightening the screws -arrows-  .

      → Tightening torque: 45 Nm (33 ft. lb.)

    6. 1.6. Push bellows -A-  forward until it engages in the central shaft groove -C-  .

    7. 1.7. Check that the bellows -A-  is seated properly by pulling on it.
  2. Install transmission bracket.
    1. 2.1. Support transmission -1-  in installation position with a transmission jack -2-  .

      Make sure to use the entire surface of the ATF pan as the contact surface so as to avoid damaging the ATF pan.

    2. 2.2. Unscrew screws -arrows-  on gear support.

    3. 2.3. Install transmission bracket.

      Fit transmission bracket and secure it by screwing in and tightening the screws -arrows-  .

      → Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ft. lb.) 

      → Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ft. lb.)

    4. 2.4. Remove transmission jack.
