Installing PDK Assembly Cover

  1. Drive in assembly cover.

    1. 1.1. Coat assembly cover lightly with fresh transmission oil.
      NOTE: Incorrect handling of sealing rings and covers
      • Leaks
      • Risk of damage to components

      → Use clean tools without burrs.

      → Make sure not to leave any scores or scratches when cleaning.

    2. 1.2. Fit assembly cover into the front transmission housing -1-  and use pressure piece T10180  , -2-  to drive it in at the same time until the collar closes with the housing.
  2. Install gear support and remove unit lifting platform.
    1. 2.1. Raise the transmission.
    2. 2.2. Install gear support.

      Fit the gear support -1-  and screw on and tighten M10 nuts -2-  .

      → Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ft. lb.) 

      Screw in and tighten M12 screw -3-  .

      → Tightening torque: 120 Nm (89 ft. lb.)

    3. 2.3. Lower and remove transmission jack -4-  .

    4. 2.4. Lower the unit lifting platform -1-  , reset it to zero position and remove it.
  3. Fit B+ cable.

    Fit B+ cable at the cable duct -1-  by screwing in and tightening the M8 nut.

    → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)

  4. Engage parking lock cable on the PDK transmission.

    1. 4.1. Check that the gear selector on the selector support is in position "P" and is locked.
    2. 4.2. Check that the transmission parking lock is fully engaged.
    3. 4.3. Fit the parking lock cable -1-  on the bracket, press it in and engage it.
    4. 4.4. Press ball head of parking lock cable -1-  onto the parking lock lever.
      NOTE: The parking lock cable must only be connected without preload.
  5. Install cross member.

    Position cross member -2-  and fit and tighten M12 x 80 screws -1-  .

    → Tightening torque: 110 Nm (81.5 ft. lb.)

  6. Install diagonal braces.

    Fit diagonal braces -1-  . Screw in and tighten screws -2-  (M12 x 30) on the cross member and screws -2-  (M10 x 40) on the body.

    → Tightening torque: 100 Nm (74 ft. lb.) 

    → Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ft. lb.)

  7. Install transverse strut.

    Fit transverse strut -1-  and screw in and tighten screws -2-  (M10 x 40).

    → Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ft. lb.)
