Checking And Topping Up ATF

Information 

Before getting started, the transmission in the stationary vehicle must already be filled with ATF. → 370255 CHANGING ATF (CLUTCH FLUID) 

1. Pre-fill ATF.
   1. 1.1. Get the vehicle ready:
      • Move selector lever to position "P".
      • Start the engine and leave it running at idle speed.
      • Apply the parking brake.

      Information 

      Affix adhesive tape -1-  to the area between the transmission housing and ATF pan to prevent dirt from getting into the oil pan.

   2. 1.2. Unscrew ATF filler screw -1-  .

      1. 1.2.1. ATF emerges: Collect emerging ATF until only drops of ATF are emerging.
      2. 1.2.2. No ATF emerges: Top up ATF until ATF emerges at the filler bore.

         Manual Metering Pump WE 1372 

   3. 1.3. Screw in ATF filler screw.

      Information 

      Oil fill mode can be activated when the transmission fluid temperature is between 30°C and 40°C. The transmission control unit ends oil fill mode automatically after 5 minutes.

2. Preparatory work for checking ATF.

   Precondition:  Transmission oil temperature > 10 °C

   1. 2.1. Connect the PIWIS Tester.

      PIWIS Tester 9718 

   2. 2.2. Shift the selector lever through gearshift positions R-N-D once with the engine running and pause for one second at each position.
   3. 2.3. Move selector lever to position "P".
   4. 2.4. Start oil fill mode on the Tester and follow the instructions.
3. Check ATF in oil fill mode.
   WARNING: Hot fluid

   • Danger of scalding

   → Let the fluid cool down.

   → Wear personal protective gear.

   1. 3.1. Unscrew ATF filler screw -1-  .

      1. 3.1.1. ATF emerges: Collect emerging ATF until only drops of ATF are emerging.
      2. 3.1.2. No ATF emerges: Top up ATF until ATF emerges at the filler bore.

         Manual Metering Pump WE 1372 

         Information 

         Only use oil approved by Porsche in the Porsche Doppelkupplung.

   2. 3.2. Screw in and tighten new ATF filler screw -1-  .

      → Tightening torque: 35 Nm (26 ft. lb.) +/-3 Nm (+/-2 ft. lb.) 

4. Remove adhesive tape from the area between the transmission housing and ATF pan. Carefully clean the transmission housing and ATF pan.
5. Switch off engine.
