Installing Flywheel

WARNING: Caustic fluids
  • Danger of chemical burns

→ Avoid contact with caustic fluid.

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Ensure that there is good ventilation.

→ If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

  1. Remove protective wax on new parts with acetone or solvent naphtha.
    NOTE: Removing and installing flywheel
    • Leaks
    • Risk of damage to the flywheel and adjacent components

    → Be very careful during removal and installation.

    → Get another person to help because of the weight.

  2. Correctly position flywheel together with guide joint at the crankshaft flange (dowel pin -arrow-  ) and fit with nine internal-serration screws (M10 x 62).

  3. Screw in screws evenly and tighten to the specified torque in the correct sequence -1 to 9-  . Counter at the crankshaft pulley with special tool holding wrench 9548  .

    → Tightening torque: 85 Nm (63 ftlb.)
