Component Overview For Rear Silencer

- Rear silencer; check welded areas for cracks
- Rear holder
- Mount for front and rear holder (stop-choc element)
- Fastening screw (M8 x 110) for holder → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)
- Collar nut (lock nut) → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)
- Tailpipe (3.6-Liter engine)
- Tailpipe clamp, always replace after opening. → Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22 ft. lb.)
- Clamping sleeve → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)
- Front holder
- G-holder for rear silencer
- Silencer bracket to cylinder head
- Screw (M8 x 25) for bottom G-holder → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)
- Screw (M8 x 12) for G-holder to bracket → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)
- Screw (M8 x 25) securing bracket to cylinder head → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)
- Remove tailpipe cover -1-
if the silencer has to be replaced.

- 1.1. Unscrew M8 Torx screw -2- on the ball clamp, open the ball clamp slightly and pull off the cover.
- 1.2. Replace ball clamp by removing the spotweld and removing the clamp.
- Loosen M8 fastening nuts -1- on the clamping sleeve. If corroded, heat the sleeve or spray it with rust solvent.
- Loosen threaded connection on rear silencer holder at the rear.
- 3.1. Unscrew two M8 hexagon nuts -1-
on the holder -2-

Tool recommendation: commercially available 3/8-inch ratchet with extension, universal joint and socket-wrench insert (a/f 13).
- 3.2. Unscrew two M8 hexagon nuts -1- on the rear silencer holder at the front.

on the holder -2-

- Slide clamping sleeve onto the main silencer pipe and lift the silencer towards the wheel housing and out of the vehicle.
