Checking Clutch Plate For Wear
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2013 Porsche 911, 2012 Porsche 911, 2011 Porsche 911, 2010 Porsche 911, and 2009 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Information
- The clutch lining does not wear linearly over the service life of the clutch.
- Due to the settling behavior of the clutch lining, more wear occurs at the beginning.
- Pad thickness wear will decrease as mileage increases.
Information
Pad thickness measurement must only be done on the flanged side of the rivet head.
- Place a commercially available depth gauge on the clutch lining -1- and measure the distance to the rivet head.
The wear dimension -X- measures 0.3 mm. If a smaller value is measured, the clutch drive plate must be replaced. The measured value on a new plate is approx. 1.7 mm.
