Removing Reservoir For Coolant

WARNING:
Highly inflammable or explosive materials
- Danger of fire or explosion
→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.
→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
- Before opening the fuel lines, put up or attach a warning sign in a clearly visible position on the vehicle.

- Unclip the fuel line -2-
at the connection point in the engine compartment.
- 2.1. Press the locking lugs on plug-in coupling and pull the line apart.
- 2.2. Soak up emerging fuel with a cloth.
- 2.3. Unclip the fuel line from the holder -3-
on the coolant reservoir.
WARNING: Coolant is hazardous to health.
- Risk of skin irritation.
→ Wear protective gloves and goggles.
→ In the event of contact with the skin or eyes, wash immediately with plenty of water.
- Remove coolant hoses.
- 3.1. Remove supply hose (reservoir to engine) -3-
.
- 3.1.1. Open the spring band clamp -4- and pull off the coolant hose -3- at the thermostat housing.
- 3.1.2. Release spring clamp on the Henn coupling -5-
and pull the coolant hose off the coolant pipe. Press the intake air line aside.
Make sure that the spring clamps are not overstretched.
- 3.2. Remove the coolant bleeder hose -2-
at the reservoir.
- 3.2.1. Open the spring band clamp -1- on the coolant bleeder hose and pull off the coolant bleeder hose.
- 3.3. Remove the coolant hose -6-
at the reservoir.
- 3.3.1. Open the spring band clamp on the coolant hose and pull off the coolant hose.
- 3.3.2. Unclip the coolant hose at the holder.
- 3.1. Remove supply hose (reservoir to engine) -3-
.
- Remove the coolant hose -1-
for the thermostat housing.
- 4.1. Open the spring band clamps -2- and pull off the coolant hose.
- Remove engine coolant level sensor -2-
.
- 5.1. Pull off cable plug.
- 5.2. Turn the sensor on the reservoir 90° anti-clockwise (bayonet lock) and pull it out of the reservoir.
- Remove coolant reservoir.
- 6.1. Unscrew M6 collar nut on the reservoir.
- 6.2. Pull the reservoir out of the holder.
- 6.3. Guide the reservoir diagonally backwards out of the engine compartment. Press the intake air line aside.
