Checking Engine Oil Pressure

Information 

Only fit test adapter for measuring oil pressure on the engine when engine is cold.

Special Tool Test Adapter 9830 for measuring oil pressure

  1. Place a cloth under the oil-filter console and on the generator to collect drops of oil.
  2. Loosen oil filter cover using release key 9204  and screw it off.
    1. 2.1. Remove the cover with the oil filter.
    2. 2.2. Remove oil filter and check to see if it contains any chips and other particles of dirt.
    3. 2.3. Replace the oil filter if necessary.

  3. Remove emerging oil from the oil-filter console.

    Information 

    • Check O-rings on the test adapter for damage (cracks/cuts/porosity) and replace them if necessary. 
  4. Grease O-rings on the test adapter before fitting it with Kluber Syntheso Glep (Part No. 000.043.204.68). 
  5. Insert oil filter into the test adapter.
  6. Screw test adapter with the oil filter into the oil-filter console and secure with an oil filter strap.

    The collar of the test adapter must be perfectly flush with the oil-filter console. 

  7. Oil pressure tester OP 85 WE 1276 -2-  must be connected to the plug-in coupling on the test adapter -1-  .

  8. PIWIS Tester II 9818  must be connected to the vehicle.
  9. Start the engine and let it run until an engine oil temperature of 90° Celsius is reached.

    → Nominal value: 90°C 

    1. 9.1. Check engine oil temperature using the PIWIS Tester.
  10. Check engine oil pressure.
    1. 10.1. Minimum oil pressure at idle speed: → Pressure: min. 1.2 bar 
    2. 10.2. Minimum oil pressure at 3000 RPM: → Pressure: min. 4.0 bar 
  11. Stop the engine and remove the test adapter.
    1. 11.1. Wait at least five minutes to allow the oil to return.
