Checking Engine-Oil Level

Information 

Requirements for correct oil level measurement: 

Start measurement: 

  1. Start the engine and allow it to idle until the operating temperature is reached (oil temperature gauge shows approx. 90° C).
  2. Press the lower operating lever at the left forward to display the selection menu.

  3. Use the operating lever to select the menu item OIL  .

    Information 

    • The waiting time for the oil level measurement is indicated by a countdown time display and cycling segments on the oil level gauge. 
  4. Start the measurement by pressing the operating lever forward.

    Information 

    • The oil level must be between the Min and Max markings. 
    • Correct the engine-oil level if necessary and check it again. 
  5. The oil level can be read off from the segment display once the measurement is complete (waiting time is over).
    1. 5.1. The permitted oil level is between the Min and Max markings.

    NOTE: Incorrect oil level
    • Risk of damage to engine or catalytic converter

    → Check the oil level regularly.

    → The oil level must not fall below the Minimum marking or rise above the Maximum marking.

    → Only use engine oil approved by Porsche.

    Information 

    • If the oil level drops below the minimum marking, the segment below starts flashing. 
    • The difference between the Min and Max markings is approx. 1.5 liters, i.e. one segment corresponds to approx. 0.5 liters of oil. 
    • Never top up engine oil above the Max marking. 
  6. The minimum oil level is reached when only the lowest segment on the oil level indicator is filled.
    1. 6.1. Fill in new engine oil immediately! 
  7. If the lowest segment is flashing, the oil level has already fallen below the Min marking.
    1. 7.1. Fill in new engine oil immediately!
