Performing Vehicle Handover

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2013 Porsche 911, 2012 Porsche 911, 2011 Porsche 911, 2010 Porsche 911, and 2009 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Voltage drop
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
  • Risk of damage to control unit
  • Fault entries in the control unit
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A  to the vehicle battery.

  1. PIWIS Tester II 9818  must be connected to the vehicle before starting the System Tester. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
  3. Select Additional menu  in the Control units  menu by pressing F7.
  4. Select the Vehicle handover  menu and press F12 to continue.
  5. Follow the instructions on the Tester (vehicle handover log) and press F12 to continue.
    1. 5.1. Select the relevant model year  and press F12 to confirm your selection.
    2. 5.2. Select the required unit  and press F12 to confirm your selection.
    3. 5.3. Select GT vehicle  and confirm your selection by pressing F12.
  6. Check the vehicle data entries →.5.1  , → 5.2.  and → 5.3.  and press F12 to continue.
  7. The Tester runs the functions and displays the confirmation message Functions ended  . Press F12 to continue.
  8. Enter the vehicle identification number  and press F12. Compare the vehicle identification number  and if it is OK, confirm by pressing F12.
    1. 8.1. If necessary, read out all fault memories  .
  9. Select Erase all fault memories  in the menu and press F12 to continue.
  10. For vehicles with navigation system, insert navigation DVD into the navigation unit (DVD) in the luggage compartment and switch on PCM.

    1. 10.1. Switch on PCM in clear surroundings (to load GPS almanac). The almanac is loaded as soon as four satellites are identified.
    2. 10.2. The message >> Loading navigation DVD << appears on PCM. Do not interrupt loading operation.
  11. Print out vehicle handover log and place it in vehicle documents folder.
  12. Test-drive the vehicle and read out the fault memory. Check faults following diagnostics if necessary and erase fault memory before delivering the vehicle.
