Removing Radiator
WARNING:
Hot fluid
- Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
Installation Overview For Radiator:
- Radiator
- Hexagon-head bolt M8 x 25 → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
- Hexagon-head bolt M8 x 50, with washer → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
- Speed nut, M8
- Fixing clip
- Place a container under the radiator to collect emerging coolant.
- Disconnect air-conditioning condenser.
→ 875019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONDENSER .
- 2.1. Unscrew one tapping screw -3- .
- 2.2. Pull the condenser -1- out of the side retaining lugs -4- and suspend on the body with a tie-wrap -2- .
- Only For Vehicles With Middle Radiator:
- 3.1. Disconnect connecting hose -1- going to the middle radiator. Remove spring clamp -2- and pull off hose.
- 3.2. Collect emerging coolant.
- 3.3. Refit spring clamp.
- 3.4. Close off hose and connection piece.
- 3.5. Check O-ring for damage and replace if necessary.
- Disconnect supply and return hoses on the coolant pipes.
- 4.1. On vehicles without the middle radiator, drain coolant at the lower hose -3- .
- 4.2. Remove spring clamps and pull off hoses.
- 4.3. Refit spring clamps.
- 4.4. Close off lower hose and connection piece.
- 4.5. Check O-rings on plug connections for damage and replace them if necessary.
- Disconnect vent line -2- by pressing the locking lug and pulling off the line.
- Pull off cable plug -1- .
- Remove Radiator:
- 7.1. Unscrew two hexagon-head bolts (M8 x 25, a/f 13) -1- at the bottom of the radiator.
- 7.2. Unscrew one hexagon-head bolt (M8 x 50) -1- at the top of the radiator. Press fixing clip -2- together and disengage the radiator.
