Removing Center Coolant Pipe
WARNING:
Hot fluid
- Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
WARNING:
Caustic fluids
- Danger of chemical burns
→ Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Ensure that there is good ventilation.
→ If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.
- Remove front-axle support.
- 1.1. Unscrew both hexagon-head bolts (M6 x 12) -3- for the center coolant pipes.
- 1.2. Screw off six M10 fastening nuts -2- for the front-axle support.
- 1.3. Swivel the front-axle support -1- down and disengage the retaining straps for the fuel tank.
- Remove floorpan reinforcement.
- 2.1. Release plastic holders for TPM control unit, coolant pipes and coolant vent line from the reinforcement -A- and slide them slightly to the rear -B- .
- 2.2. Unscrew four hexagon-head bolts (M10 x 70) -3- on the floorpan reinforcement -1- and remove reinforcement.
- 2.3. Unclip vent line.
- 2.4. Pull plastic holders for coolant pipes and TPM control unit -2- off the coolant pipes and leave them hanging.
- Remove brace plate.
- 3.1. Unscrew six hexagon-head bolts (M10 x 40) -2- for the brace plate -1- and remove plate and braces.
- Release plug connection for temperature sensor -1-

) and pull it off -B-
.
When replacing the coolant pipe, install the temperature sensor with a new sealing ring into the new coolant pipe.
- Unclip coolant vent line -2- on the coolant pipe -1- .
- Pull off plastic holder -1-
for the coolant pipes and coolant vent line -arrow-
.
- 6.1. Unclip vent line.
Information
Despite the fact that the coolant has been drained, residual amounts of coolant can still emerge at the joints during removal. Have sufficient collecting containers and cloths to hand.
- 6.1. Unclip vent line.
- Disconnect hose connections on the coolant pipe.
- 7.1. Open the clamp -A- .
- 7.2. Pull coolant hose off the coolant pipe -B- .
- Guide the coolant pipe forward and out.
