Removing Electromagnetic Clutch
- Clamp the final drive in a vice.
Retainer plate 9756 must be secured on the transmission housing and clamped in a vice.
Information
- Use press-out tool set Nr.155 Pos.1 to press out the pins on the electric connector.
- Alternatively, use the press-out tools VAS 1978/17 and 1978/18 .
- Press out pins on electric connector -1-

- 2.1. Pull electric connector off the housing -2- .
- 2.2. Open secondary lock -1- in the connector using the relevant tool -2- (-arrows- ).
- 2.3. Loosen pins in the connector -1- using a suitable press-out tool -2- from the tool set and pull cable with pins out of the connector.
- Carefully pull cable with pins out of the protective tube.
- Remove long-neck pipe.
- 4.1. Unclip vent line -1- at the retaining brackets -arrows- .
- 4.2. Unscrew screws -2- .
- 4.3. Loosen long-neck pipe -1- from the housing by tapping lightly with a rubber hammer and pull it off to the rear.
- 4.4. Replace O-ring -1- on the housing -2- .
- Remove electromagnetic clutch.
- 5.1. Clamp the long-neck pipe in a vice and unscrew screws -1- between the clutch and long-neck pipe.
- 5.2. Screw in two long M8 screws instead of the original screws. Tap lightly on the screw heads alternately using a plastic hammer until the clutch becomes loose.
- 5.3. Lift the clutch up out of the housing. Be careful of the electric cables while doing this.
- Replace both O-rings -1 and 2-
on the clutch hub.
