Removing Right Sealing Ring For Halfshaft Flange

Information 

Information 

  1. Puller T10037 -1-  must now be fitted using two M10 screws -2-  on the right halfshaft flange -3-  .
    CAUTION: Fine thread!
    1. 1.1. Use spacer sleeves or nuts to prevent the screws from touching the transmission.

  2. Pull off and remove the right halfshaft flange -3-  ,
  3. Pull off centering pin -1-  on the differential housing cover using an M6 screw -2-  and slide hammer kit Nr.168 -3-  .

    Information 

    • The sealing ring for the right halfshaft flange must be replaced before fitting the differential housing cover. 
  4. Unscrew and remove fastening screws -2-  on the differential housing cover -1-  .
    1. 4.1. Remove housing cover.
    2. 4.2. Replace screws (micro-self-locking).

  5. Press differential housing cover -1-  off the flanged shaft using a mounting lever and remove it.
    1. 5.1. It is quite heavy - so be careful!

  6. Two-piece protective sleeve 9357 -3-  must be pushed over the circlip -2-  and onto the long halfshaft flange -1-  .

  7. Control valve, disc valve and vacuum line on transmission:
    1. 7.1. Pull off vacuum line at the control valve -2-  (-arrow-  ).
    2. 7.2. Disconnect electric plug connection at the control valve.
    3. 7.3. Unclip control valve at the holder -3-  and set it aside with the lines connected.
    4. 7.4. Unscrew and remove fastening screw for the holder.
    5. 7.5. Move disc valve -1-  with connected lines aside.

  8. Unclip coolant hoses from the bracket -1-  and set them aside.

    Information 

    • The aluminum screws for the housing neck on the transmission must be replaced. 
    • The aluminum screws must be tightened using the yield-point-controlled tightening method. 
    • The special tool: Electronic torque wrench 9768 is used for this purpose. 
    • To ensure that the screws are tightened uniformly, the corresponding tightening setting "light, medium or hard" must always be used. 
  9. Unscrew and remove aluminum screws -1-  on the housing neck -2-  .

    Replace screws!

  10. Pull out the left halfshaft flange -1-  and housing neck -2-  at the transmission.

  11. Pull right sealing ring -1-  out of the transmission housing using slide hammer kit Nr.168  .
