Installing Rear End

  1. Install rear end and check that it fits perfectly. Check gap dimensions. → WM 5X00IN GAP DIMENSIONS - body gap dimensions

    Information 

    • Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
    • The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
    • Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 
  2. Apply adhesive. → ADHESIVE 000.043.206.30 → Application Depth: 5.0 mm 

    Working with body structural adhesive → WM 5X00IN WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE - section on "Installing"

    Blue Bonding + Resistance Spot-Welding
    Orange Bonding + Riveting

  4. Fit in and secure the rear end.
  5. Rivet in area -A, B & C-  . → BLIND RIVET 999.190.229.01

  6. Make ground connection.
    1. 5.1. Screw in ground connection in area -1-  . → Tightening Torque: 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)  . → COUNTERSUNK SCREW 999.073.549.01 and → HEXAGON NUT 900.377.003.01 → WM 5X00IN MAKING GROUND CONNECTIONS - section on "Installing"

  7. Fit rivets in the side member/lifting platform holder area. → BLIND RIVET 999.190.227.01

  8. Install countersunk rivets in area -1-  . → BLIND RIVET 999.190.228.01
    1. 7.1. Rivet in area -2 & 3-  . → BLIND RIVET 999.190.229.01

  9. Resistance spot-weld area -1-  .

  10. Resistance spot-weld the wheel housing area.

  11. 10. Rivet in area -A & B-  . → BLIND RIVET 999.190.229.01
    1. 10.1. Screw in flow drill screws in area -C-  . → LENS-HEAD SCREW 999.073.917.01 → WM 5X00IN SETTING SELF-TAPPING SCREWS - section on "Installing"

  12. 11. Fill the marked area with acoustic foam. → WM 5X00IN WORKING WITH BODY FOAM FILLER - section on "Installing"

  13. 12. Tighten fastening screws -1 & 2-  to → Tightening Torque: 46 Nm (34 ft. lbs.)  .
