Removing Convertible Top Covering
Information
- Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle.
- Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well.
- Drill out rivets -3- on the roof frame.
- Drill out rivets -2- on the outside of the convertible top covering -1- .
- Remove cover -4- .
- Loosen retaining strap -3-
at the sides.
- 4.1. Remove expansion rivet -2- .
- 4.2. Pull retaining strap -3- through to the outside.
- Unhook convertible top covering -1- at the sides.
- Release tension rope.
- 6.1. Pull off adhesive tape -2- .
- 6.2. Disengage tension rope -3-

Information
- Only required when re-using the convertible top covering.
The tension rope can be pulled in during installation using the cord.
The cord remains in the removed convertible top covering.
- 6.3. Secure the cord -4- to the tension rope and pull it into the duct on the convertible top.
- 6.4. Pull tension rope out of the duct on the convertible top -arrow B- .
- 6.5. Release the cord -4- from the tension rope -3- .
- Loosen retaining strap.
- 7.1. Drill out rivets -3- .
- 7.2. Remove retaining strap -1- and suspended joint -2- .
- Detach convertible top covering -1-
at the rear.
- 8.1. Unscrew screw -2- .
- 8.2. Pull piping -3- out of the tension bow.
- Loosen retaining frame for rear window.
- 9.1. Unscrew fastening screw -3- .
- 9.2. Remove nut -4- , washer -5- and retaining strap -2- .
- 9.3. Unscrew fastening screws -6 and 7- on retaining frame for rear window.
- Detach convertible top covering completely and remove it.
- 10.1. Fold up convertible top covering at the rear and place it on the roof frame.
- 10.2. Detach convertible top covering at the front edge. -arrows-
- 10.3. Remove convertible top covering. -arrows-
